Create and send an SMS campaign

Modified on Wed, 6 May at 5:36 PM

This guide explains how to create and send an SMS campaign to your contacts from the Agendize Communication module. You can send your campaign immediately or schedule it for a later date and time.

Prerequisites

Access required: the Communication module requires an active payment profile key.

Before you start: make sure you have at least one SMS template available on your account. If you don't have one yet, create one first by following the guide Manage your message templates.

Where to start: in the left-hand side menu, click Communication, then the Campaigns tab. Then click "New" > "SMS".

Fill in the campaign information

The creation form opens in the right panel. The list of your campaigns remains visible in the central panel.

  1. In the Location field, select the location from which you are sending the campaign.
  2. In the Recipients field, choose who will receive the message:
    • Selected contacts — you manually select the recipient contacts.
    • All my contacts (N total) — the campaign is sent to all contacts accessible from your account. The number shown takes your CRM scope into account.

Choose a template and write the content

  1. In the Template field, select an SMS template from the list.
    • The Content field is automatically pre-filled with the template's text.
    • The character counter updates accordingly.
  2. Edit or complete the Content if needed.

A "SMS size: X/145" indicator appears below the field and updates in real time as you type. It helps you stay within the 145-character limit per SMS.

Good to know: a STOP message is automatically appended to every SMS sent ("Stop? Txt STOP"). This message is mandatory and is shown as informational text below the Content field — it is not counted in your 145 characters.

All fields marked with an asterisk (Location, Recipients, Template, Content) are required. Sending is blocked if any of them is empty.

Choose the send date and time

Two options are available in the Send options section:

Send now — the campaign is sent immediately after confirmation.

Send later — the campaign is scheduled for a date and time you define.

  1. Check "Send now" or "Send later" (the two options are mutually exclusive: checking one automatically unchecks the other).
  2. If you choose "Send later", two additional fields appear:
    • Date — select the send date in DD/MM/YYYY format.
    • Time — select the send time in HH:MM format.

Important: it is not possible to schedule a send in the past.

Send or schedule the campaign

  1. Make sure all required fields are filled in and a send option is selected.
  2. Click the "Send" button at the top right of the form.
  • If you chose "Send now", a confirmation message appears: "The campaign is being sent."
  • If you chose "Send later", a confirmation message appears: "The campaign send has been scheduled."
  1. The right panel automatically switches to the detail view of the campaign.
  2. The campaign appears in the list in the central panel.

Things to watch out for

  • No SMS template available — if the Template drop-down is empty, you need to create an SMS template first. See the guide Manage your message templates.
  • Exceeding 145 characters — if your content exceeds the limit, a warning message appears. Shorten the text before sending.
  • STOP message — the opt-out message "Stop? Txt STOP" is automatically added to every send. You cannot remove it: it is a legal requirement.
